Timothy Gadson is an accomplished superintendent, deputy superintendent, and educational strategist with deep experience leading complex school systems across the United States. From district transformation to curriculum innovation, Dr. Gadson has built a strong reputation for advancing equity, strengthening instruction, and delivering measurable academic gains in diverse, high-need communities.
Dr. Gadson is an Educational Consultant and the Owner and Principal Consultant of Timothy Gadson Consulting, where he partners with school districts and education organizations to strengthen leadership systems, improve instructional practice, and advance equitable outcomes for students. His work focuses on district improvement planning, leadership coaching, school turnaround, compliance support, and organizational effectiveness.
Previously, Dr. Gadson served as Interim Deputy Superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools, overseeing districtwide operations as the superintendent’s designee. His responsibilities included equity and social justice initiatives, leadership development, charter and partner schools, adult education, and alternative education. This executive experience continues to inform his consulting work and strengthens his ability to support districts through complex improvement efforts.
Dr. Gadson made history as the first Black superintendent of a school district in Utah, leading the Salt Lake City School District. During his tenure, he managed a $330 million budget, implemented districtwide graduation and transition planning, brokered partnerships to expand transportation access for students and staff, and launched advisory committees that elevated student, parent, and teacher voices. His leadership emphasized accountability, return on investment, and improved support for underperforming schools.
